What is a CNC?
CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) machines are woodworking “robots” that can perform cutting, routing, drilling and profiling operations. They are the safest, most precise way to prepare wood for construction. We use our Italian-made CNCs for sash parts, muntins, jamb parts, sills and finished window and door hardware cuts. These machines can cut at speeds over 40 feet per minute, and using our patent-pending technology, they can make a custom window’s parts in just a few minutes without human intervention.
Why do Wooden Window customers care about CNC technology?
On-schedule and on-time
We provide our customers with completion dates since our windows and doors are built with predictable schedules from CNCs that run at a consistent, high speed.
Quality for fenestration is determined by its energy efficiency, weatherproofing and beauty. Water and air will find their way through even the smallest of gaps, and a discerning customer can see inconsistent lines and reveals measured in fractions of inches. CNCs run with precision of 1/250th or .004 inches, which means that our construction joints, weatherstripping, and hardware cuts are superior in quality to windows and doors made by hand (typically a precision of worse than .05″).
We provide many customizations for our customers’ windows and doors without any extra charges due to the CNCs automatically adjusting to custom width, height, thickness, glass type, bevel, hardware choice, wood species, etc.
